We are committed to ensuring orderly migration management, fostering international cooperation on migration issues, identifying practical solutions to complex migration challenges, and delivering vital humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
IOM recognizes the intrinsic link between migration and economic, social, and cultural development, upholding the fundamental right to freedom of movement. Our comprehensive work spans four key areas of migration management:

Our activities are underpinned by a cross-cutting commitment to promoting international migration law, fostering policy debate and guidance, protecting migrants' rights, addressing migration health, and integrating the gender dimension into all our initiatives. Since commencing operations in Nigeria in 2001, IOM has focused on counter-trafficking, broader migration issues, and the successful return and reintegration of stranded migrants.
