Job Purpose

As a Database Administrator at Moniepoint, you will play a critical role in designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining our company's core databases. You will collaborate closely with various technical teams to provide top-tier technical support, evaluate cutting-edge database solutions, and ensure a seamless, secure, and uninterrupted flow of information throughout the organization.

What You’ll Get to Do

• Create, monitor, and maintain the company’s databases to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and resolve technical problems swiftly and efficiently.
• Proactively and regularly make strategic recommendations for system improvements.
• Implement and manage comprehensive company data management policies.
• Manage database access, security, integrity, backup procedures, and performance tuning.
• Ensure that databases consistently meet user and business requirements.
• Liaise with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project managers, and other technical stakeholders.
• Devise and implement robust processes for resolving faults and preventing data loss.
• Write comprehensive disaster recovery plans, archive data, and handle data replication.

To Succeed in This Role, You Should Have

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related information technology field.
• 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar critical role.
• Extensive knowledge of database technology, networks, server operating systems, and hardware.
• Hands-on experience in administering, managing, and tuning high-performance databases.
• A solid understanding of data and schema standards, concepts, and database design/troubleshooting.
• Expertise in SQL alongside hands-on experience with MySQL, Cloud Spanner, BigTable, ClickHouse, or other modern DBMS platforms.
• Meticulous attention to detail combined with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to excel both independently and as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team.
