Chief Security Officer at Edgewood College

Edgewood College, a prestigious independent Christian boarding and day school located in the serene environment of Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, is currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced Chief Security Officer (CSO). As the Chief Security Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding this vibrant academic community. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all security protocols to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and review comprehensive security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans tailored to the school's boarding and day operations.
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the internal security team and liaise with contracted external security agencies.
Conduct regular threat assessments, vulnerability analyses, and safety audits of the campus premises and facilities.
Manage and optimize security technology, including CCTV surveillance, access control systems, and perimeter defense.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and emergency services.
Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, including conducting regular safety drills (fire, lockdown, medical emergencies) for students and staff.
Investigate security breaches, incidents, or suspicious activities, and provide detailed reports and recommendations to school leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Security Studies, Public Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional security certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) will be a distinct advantage.
Proven experience as a Chief Security Officer, Security Manager, or in a senior security leadership role, ideally within an educational institution, hospitality, or corporate setting.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage constructively with teenagers, staff, and parents.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
Sound knowledge of modern security systems, emergency management, and threat mitigation strategies.
