We are currently recruiting a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Anaesthetist – Consultant to provide specialized anaesthetic and perioperative care for patients undergoing complex cardiac surgical and interventional procedures.

In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of patient-centred care, ensuring the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence. You will work within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, intensivists, and specialized nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessments and risk stratification for patients undergoing cardiac procedures.
Develop and implement individualized anaesthetic plans for cardiac surgeries and interventions.
Administer general and regional anaesthesia, sedation, and advanced perioperative techniques.
Provide expert anaesthetic management for open-heart procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting and valve surgery.
Manage advanced haemodynamic monitoring, difficult airways, and perioperative emergencies.
Deliver exceptional postoperative anaesthetic and critical care support.
Collaborate seamlessly with cardiac surgeons and perfusionists during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
Supervise and mentor junior anaesthesia staff and contribute to clinical quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Fellowship in Anaesthesiology or equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
Current medical registration and a valid practising licence, with eligibility for registration in Nigeria.
Minimum of five (5) years of post-specialization experience, featuring significant, hands-on expertise in cardiac anaesthesia.
Demonstrated proficiency in advanced haemodynamic monitoring and perioperative critical care.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (advanced cardiac or critical care certifications are a strong advantage).
Exceptional clinical judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
