AfriLabs, the leading network organization comprising 174 innovation centers across 45 African countries, is seeking a motivated State Project Officer to join our team in Lagos. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting our Aggregator projects, fostering connections, and facilitating the development of innovative solutions to local challenges.
The Role
As a State Project Officer, you will be the backbone of our field operations. You will support the planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting of project activities at the state level. Your work will ensure seamless liaison between our project team, institutional stakeholders, and the beneficiaries we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Coordination: Develop state-level workplans and serve as the primary focal point for all project activities within your assigned institutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a bridge between university management, government agencies (such as NUC and NBTE), and local innovation hubs.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Track performance against KPIs, conduct site visits, and ensure all activities adhere to our rigorous quality and social safeguard standards.
- Data & Reporting: Manage the collection and verification of project data to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
- Logistics & Operations: Oversee the seamless execution of workshops, training sessions, and innovation challenges.
- Community Visibility: Drive awareness initiatives to ensure inclusive participation, particularly among youth and women.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking candidates who are as passionate about the African innovation ecosystem as we are. You should possess:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of professional experience in project coordination or programme implementation, preferably within NGOs or donor-funded environments.
- Professional Advantage: A PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly desired.
- Skillset: Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
