About the Role
AfriLabs, the leading network organization connecting 174 innovation centers across 45 African countries, is seeking a dedicated and proactive State Project Officer for their operations in Delta State. This role is pivotal in driving the success of our Aggregator projects, ensuring that innovation centers, entrepreneurs, and academic institutions have the support needed to create sustainable jobs and innovative solutions to local challenges.
What You Will Do
As a State Project Officer, you will serve as the heartbeat of our project activities at the state level. Your responsibilities include:
- Strategic Implementation: Overseeing state-level workplans and ensuring local activities align with our broader project goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as the bridge between AfriLabs, universities, polytechnics, government agencies (such as NBTE and NUC), and local innovation hubs.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Tracking KPIs, conducting site visits, and ensuring all programme activities meet our strict quality and safeguard standards.
- Data Stewardship: Collecting, validating, and reporting vital programme data to help us measure our collective impact.
- Operational Excellence: Managing logistics for workshops, innovation challenges, and community outreach events.
- Visibility & Advocacy: Promoting gender equity and youth participation while driving awareness to attract programme participants.
Who You Are
We are looking for a professional with a passion for development and a knack for coordination. You should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in project coordination or programme implementation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships across diverse institutions.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining high organisational standards.
- Bonus: Professional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2.
