The Role
As a Consultant Urologist, you will be at the forefront of diagnosing and treating a wide array of disorders affecting the urinary tract and male reproductive system. You will lead clinical efforts, perform complex surgeries, and contribute to the hospital’s reputation for clinical excellence. The ideal candidate is a patient-centered practitioner who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Lead outpatient consultations and inpatient care, developing personalized treatment plans using the latest clinical guidelines.
- Surgical Excellence: Perform a variety of open and minimally invasive procedures, including TURP, URS, PCNL, and laparoscopic interventions.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and supervision to resident doctors, medical officers, and interns, fostering an environment of continuous learning.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in departmental audits, morbidity/mortality reviews, and the development of hospital-wide clinical protocols.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure that patients and their families are well-educated on treatment options and recovery, while maintaining the highest standards of compassionate care.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or equivalent).
- Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCS) or West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in Urology.
- Current, valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- A minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience in a specialist or tertiary facility.
- Proven expertise in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical techniques.
