You will work closely with AHFID’s expert technical team, implementing partners, programme managers, and health facility personnel, acting as a pivotal link in our mission to elevate public health data integrity.

Key Responsibilities: Making a Difference

As a Technical Associate, your contributions will span several vital areas:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of Routine Data Quality Assessments (RDQAs) across various supported programme sites.
  • Conduct thorough source document verification and validate reported programme data against primary records and established reporting tools.
  • Assess data quality meticulously using established RDQA methodologies, identifying gaps related to accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and integrity.
  • Document assessment findings comprehensively and contribute to the development of actionable recommendations for continuous data quality improvement.

Data Validation & Quality Improvement

  • Review, validate, and reconcile programme datasets to identify inconsistencies, discrepancies, and reporting errors.
  • Support routine data cleaning and verification activities to enhance the reliability and trustworthiness of programme data.
  • Collaborate with implementing partners and health facility teams to address identified data quality issues and champion continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed-upon data quality improvement actions and diligently document progress.

Technical Support & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with implementing partners, programme managers, and health facility personnel throughout assessment and quality improvement activities.
  • Facilitate technical discussions, review meetings, and feedback sessions following field assessments to ensure alignment and shared understanding.
  • Provide impactful on-site technical support to strengthen routine data management practices and promote strict adherence to reporting standards.
  • Cultivate strong, collaborative working relationships with programme stakeholders to facilitate the effective and smooth implementation of technical activities.

Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare high-quality field reports, succinct assessment summaries, and comprehensive technical documentation after RDQA activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessment findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
  • Support the preparation of compelling technical presentations, detailed progress reports, and other crucial project deliverables.
  • Proactively escalate emerging implementation risks, data quality concerns, or operational challenges to the technical team for timely resolution.

Who We Are Looking For: Your Profile

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Master’s degree (or nearing completion of a Master’s) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Information Management, Health Policy, Monitoring & Evaluation, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience supporting public health programmes, health systems strengthening, monitoring and evaluation, or technical programme implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting or supporting Routine Data Quality Assessments (RDQAs), Data Quality Assessments (DQAs), or similar data verification exercises.
  • Experience working effectively with implementing partners, health facilities, programme managers, or government health stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Primary Health Care, or other integrated health service programmes is highly desirable.
