Opportunity Overview: Service / Quality Improvement Officer at Jhpiego

Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a qualified Service/Quality Improvement Officer to join our mission-driven team in Nigeria. This role is a vital component of a US Government-funded initiative aimed at strengthening health systems and reducing morbidity and mortality rates across maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) sectors.

The Role

As a Service/Quality Improvement Officer, you will serve as a technical leader, driving capacity building, clinical mentoring, and supportive supervision. Your work will directly impact primary and secondary healthcare facilities, ensuring that integrated services—including nutrition, immunization, and malaria treatment—are delivered at the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert technical guidance on integrated MNCH+N, immunization, and malaria service delivery.
Design and facilitate training programs and clinical mentoring for healthcare providers to embed sustainable quality improvement (QI) methodologies.
Strengthen referral systems and advocate for evidence-based best practices with state ministries, community leaders, and local government authorities.
Collaborate with M&E teams to track program progress, ensuring all interventions align with national and USG standards.
Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to develop innovative facility and community-based approaches to improve health uptake.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who brings a blend of clinical expertise and strategic management skills:

Professional qualification as a Midwife or Nurse; an MPH, MSC, or related degree is highly desirable.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in MNCH+N, immunization, and malaria programs in Nigeria.
Proven ability to work effectively with government officials, policy makers, and international donor-funded projects (specifically USG-funded).
Strong analytical skills for program design, implementation, and supportive supervision.
Fluency in English, with proficiency in Hausa and/or Fulfulde.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Nigeria as the project demands.
