About the Role
As the Senior Manager for Healthy Heart Africa (HHA), you will play a pivotal role in bringing AstraZeneca’s Health Equity strategy to life. This is a hands-on, strategic position designed for a self-starter who thrives on building public-private partnerships and implementing high-impact community health programmes. Your primary objective will be to bridge healthcare gaps, influence national health policies, and improve access to care across West Africa.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will represent AstraZeneca and lead the HHA program across the West African region, with key responsibilities including:
- Strategy and Implementation: Lead the regional strategy and execution of the HHA programme alongside NGO partners to achieve shared objectives aligned with AstraZeneca’s Global Health Equity strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with policymakers, Ministry of Health officials (including NCD Units), healthcare professionals, medical societies, and patient advocacy organizations to ensure the long-term sustainability of the programme.
- Partner Management & Coaching: Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and support to NGO partners on the ground, ensuring they meet their Master Services Agreements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Governance & Compliance: Guarantee strict adherence to the AstraZeneca Code of Conduct, internal SOPs, corporate governance guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
- Scientific Support: Assist with scientific programs exploring unmet medical needs, support clinical research activities, and ensure prompt documentation and reporting of any adverse events and product quality complaints.
Qualifications and Experience Required
AstraZeneca is looking for a professional who possesses a unique blend of scientific knowledge, relationship-building skills, and public health expertise. Ideal requirements include:
- Education: A completed degree in Science or a closely related field.
- Experience: Proven track record in programme management, particularly in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), health policy, or improving access to healthcare in Africa.
- Stakeholder Relations: Strong experience managing relationships with government agencies, NGOs, key opinion leaders, and healthcare providers.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze scientific data and utilize insights to optimize programme delivery and decision-making.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French is highly desirable.
- Traits: An entrepreneurial mindset, strong budget management skills, and a deep-seated passion for advancing health equity.
