About the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
Established in February 1988 (and formally enacted by the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007), the Federal Road Safety Corps is the lead government agency responsible for road safety administration in Nigeria. The core mandate of the Commission revolves around:
- Making the national highways safe for motorists and other road users.
- Recommending works and devices designed to eliminate or minimize accidents on the highways, and advising federal, state, and local agencies on safety infrastructure.
- Educating motorists and members of the public on the importance of discipline on the highway.
Role and Responsibilities
As an Officer under the MBBS Cadre, you will play a crucial role in the health and safety mandate of the FRSC. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing emergency medical care and first-aid response during highway rescue operations.
- Managing medical clinics and health facilities run by the FRSC to ensure the well-being of corps personnel and their families.
- Conducting medical assessments, physical exams, and health screenings for personnel and recruits.
- Participating in public health advocacy and safety education programs targeting road users.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be eligible for this officer-level position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Must possess a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- National Service: Must hold a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge Certificate.
- Fitness: Must meet the physical, mental, and medical fitness standards required for enlistment into a uniform agency.
