The Role
As the Laboratory Manager, you will serve as the heartbeat of our laboratory department. You will be responsible for setting the standard for quality assurance, managing a talented team of scientists and technicians, and ensuring that our patients receive accurate results with the quickest possible turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert leadership and day-to-day management of laboratory staff.
- Oversee rigorous quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) systems to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Manage equipment maintenance schedules, inventory, and laboratory budgets.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety, infection control, and biohazard compliance.
- Liaise with the medical team and management to drive service improvement and report on key performance metrics.
- Mentor and develop staff through training and professional appraisals.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is not just a skilled scientist, but a proven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. To be considered, you must possess:
- A Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree.
- A valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- At least 5 years of post-NYSC experience in a medical laboratory setting.
- A minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- In-depth familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ISO standards.
- Note: You must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Awka.
Possessing a postgraduate qualification in Laboratory Management or Quality Assurance is considered a strong advantage. Your integrity, analytical mindset, and ability to lead under pressure are the qualities we value most.
