Role Overview
As the Head of Medical, you will lead from the front, overseeing clinical operations, supervising call nursing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care. In addition to answering and initiating customer calls with professionalism, you will resolve customer issues on the first contact, model effective communication, and utilize your expertise to represent the products and services of Prepaid Medicare Services Ltd HMO.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the organization's high standards of healthcare administration. Key responsibilities include:
- Team Supervision: Supervising call nursing staff to ensure prompt, high-quality response and resolution.
- Provider Network Coordination: Coordinating healthcare services across a wide national network of clinics and hospitals.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring the quality of care and patient outcomes while reviewing treatment plans to ensure cost-effective delivery.
- Policy Development: Developing and implementing robust clinical policies and guidelines.
- Relationship Management: Managing provider relationships, accreditation processes, and resolving clinical complaints.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to national regulatory requirements, including the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) guidelines.
- Strategic Planning: Contributing to organization-wide decision-making, strategic planning, and overseeing health promotion and disease prevention programs.
Requirements and Qualifications
To succeed in this challenging yet rewarding leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc/BSc Nursing) as the minimum qualification.
- A Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, Healthcare Management, or an MBA is highly preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5–10 years of post-qualification clinical experience.
- At least 3–5 years in a supervisory, managerial, or leadership role.
- Proven experience in managed care, health insurance, quality assurance, utilization management, or hospital administration.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep understanding of HMO operations, clinical governance, claims management, and case utilization review.
- Solid knowledge of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) guidelines.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, budget management, and interpersonal skills.
- Competence in electronic health records (EHRs) and modern healthcare information systems.
Desirable Certifications & Attributes:
- Certifications in Healthcare Management, Project Management, or Quality Improvement/Patient Safety.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strategic thinking and a commitment to patient-centered care.
