Opportunity: Gender and Disability Inclusion Specialist

Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Gender and Disability Inclusion Specialist to join our humanitarian efforts. As a non-profit organization established in 2014, we are committed to mitigating health deficits and improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across Africa. This role is a critical component of our ongoing commitment to the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) initiative.

About the Role

The Gender and Disability Inclusion Specialist will serve as a champion for equity within our educational programs. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that gender equality and disability inclusion are not merely theoretical concepts but are practically integrated into all aspects of our humanitarian programming. You will be responsible for creating safe, supportive, and accessible learning environments for girls, women, and persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development: Align program components with international standards to ensure gender and disability responsiveness.
Capacity Building: Mentor staff and stakeholders through workshops on inclusive teaching practices.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Track progress using specialized indicators to ensure our interventions are effective and data-driven.
Community Engagement: Collaborate with local leaders and families to dismantle systemic barriers to education.
Advocacy: Represent GHIV Africa in national forums to influence policy in favor of vulnerable populations.
Emergency Response: Ensure that, even during crises, our programs remain accessible and gender-inclusive.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Disability Studies, Law, Social Sciences, or Education is required. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in gender equality and disability inclusion, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in humanitarian or educational settings.
Skills: Proven track record in implementing inclusive policies and a deep understanding of the intersectionality of gender, disability, and education.
