The Role: Technical Drawing Educator
The Technical Drawing Educator plays a pivotal role in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) pathway. In this position, you will introduce students to the foundational principles of engineering design, drafting, and architecture. You will be responsible for providing both theoretical instruction and practical guidance, equipping students with the technical precision and visual literacy required for future academic and professional success.
Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Drawing Educator at Domfas ILA, your duties will include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality technical drawing lessons in alignment with the academy's dual curriculum.
- Teaching core concepts such as freehand sketching, geometrical constructions, orthographic projections, and design principles.
- Developing comprehensive lesson notes, schemes of work, and practical instructional materials.
- Assessing and evaluating student progress through regular assignments, practical tests, hands-on projects, and examinations.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of student attendance, performance, and development.
- Overseeing the proper care, maintenance, and storage of drafting tools, drawing equipment, and classroom materials.
- Encouraging innovative thinking, precise execution, and artistic creativity in student projects.
- Integrating modern Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and digital tools into the curriculum where applicable.
- Supervising drawing studio sessions, ensuring a safe, supportive, and focused learning environment.
- Actively participating in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide events.
- Upholding and promoting classroom discipline, school values, and institutional policies.
Qualifications and Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Technical Education, Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- A professional teaching qualification or certification (strongly preferred and considered an added advantage).
- Proven experience teaching Technical Drawing or Drafting at the secondary or academy level.
- Proficiency in standard drafting techniques, as well as experience with modern technical drawing software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools).
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to inspire students of diverse learning backgrounds.
