Role Summary: Physics Teacher

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality Physics instruction to Senior Secondary (SS1 to SS3) students. In line with the Nigerian National Policy on Education and the strict academic standards of Jesuit Memorial College, the Physics Teacher will cover the academic curriculum comprehensively. Beyond textbook theories, the teacher is expected to connect Physics principles to real-world applications, fostering an interactive and stimulating learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, prepare, and deliver comprehensive lesson plans in Physics for SS1-SS3 classes, aligning with the Nigerian National Curriculum and school regulations.
  • Cover the designated scheme of work effectively and efficiently within the academic term.
  • Integrate practical, everyday applications of Physics into classroom discussions to stimulate curiosity and deepen students' understanding of the physical world.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback, academic support, and encouragement.
  • Act as an active mentor and role model, guiding students in both their academic journeys and character development.
  • Participate in school activities, staff meetings, and professional development programs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Physics, or its direct equivalent, is required.
  • An advanced degree or additional certification in Physics or Education is highly advantageous.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of active classroom teaching experience in a similar role. Any other hands-on experience in physics-related fields or laboratory management is a plus.
