Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Academic Rank: Must not be below the rank of Senior Lecturer. Readers and Professors are strongly preferred, particularly for postgraduate research supervision.
• Qualification: Must possess a minimum of a Ph.D. Degree in Islamic Studies or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in the specialization with prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions. A strong track record of postgraduate supervision and peer-reviewed research publications is essential.
• Independence: Candidates must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest (e.g., recent employment, close personal/professional relationships, or reciprocal arrangements with the University).

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants who stand out will ideally possess:

• A robust publication record in reputable journals over the last three years.
• Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) frameworks, e-assessment, and virtual examination platforms.
• Demonstrated leadership in academic research and postgraduate mentorship.

Tenure and Engagement

External Examiners are engaged on a flexible contractual basis, performing specific duties and evaluations aligned with the University's academic calendar and quality assurance milestones.
