Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following baseline requirements:

Academic Rank: Candidates must hold a minimum rank of Senior Lecturer. Readers and Professors are strongly preferred, particularly for postgraduate research supervision.
Qualification: Must possess a Ph.D. degree in their respective field of expertise from a recognized and accredited institution.
Experience: Demonstrated expertise in the relevant academic discipline. Prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions is highly advantageous, alongside a robust track record of postgraduate supervision and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
Independence: Applicants must maintain absolute independence from Iconic Open University.

Candidates must ensure they have no conflicts of interest, including recent employment at the university within the last three years, close personal or professional relationships with current staff or students, or reciprocal examining arrangements with cognate programmes.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong, recent publication record within the past three years.
Familiarity and direct experience with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) frameworks.
Proficiency in utilizing e-assessment and virtual examination platforms.
Demonstrated leadership in academic research and postgraduate mentorship.

Tenure and Engagement

External Examiners are engaged on a contractual basis for a defined tenure, carrying out specific quality assurance duties and roles that may evolve in alignment with institutional growth and NUC guidelines.
